An assembly is a group of members of an organization who meet periodically to make decisions about a specific area or scope of the organization.

Assemblies hold meetings, some are private and some are open. If they are open, it is possible to participate in them (for example: attending if the capacity allows it, adding points to the agenda, or commenting on the proposals and decisions taken by this organ).

Examples: A general assembly (which meets once a year to define the organisation's main lines of action as well as its executive bodies by vote), an equality advisory council (which meets every two months to make proposals on how to improve gender relations in the organisation), an evaluation commission (which meets every month to monitor a process) or a guarantee body (which collects incidents, abuses or proposals to improve decision-making procedures) are all examples of assemblies.

OCoding : We propotype your ideas & projects using open-source software.

Do you have an idea? Do you have a project? Every week we give you the opportunity to prototype your idea or project with our community.

About this assembly

OCoding is a monthly initiative where our worldwide OVillage community meets (face-to-face and online) for a week to code and prototype projects using free and open source software and technologies. Project ideas are proposed by members, then selected by democratic vote.

This activity brings together developers, designers and other technology enthusiasts to work together, share skills and turn ideas into working prototypes. OCoding embodies the spirit of collaboration, open innovation and contribution to a technology ecosystem accessible to all.

At OVillage, we believe in the power of collaboration and collective innovation to transform ideas into tangible realities. Once a month, for an intense and productive week, our community comes together to code and prototype inspiring projects, drawing on free and open source technologies and software.

Our process begins long before the prototyping week. Community members propose their project ideas, whether to solve a problem, improve a process or create something totally new. Then, through a democratic voting system, the community chooses which idea will be developed during the OCoding session.

This inclusive, collaborative approach ensures that each project benefits from the diverse skills and collective expertise of our community. Every member contributes to the project, whether they are developers, designers, project managers or technology enthusiasts, all united by a common passion for free and open source software.

For seven days, we work together, share our knowledge and take on technical and creative challenges. Our values are rooted in openness, sharing and transparency. By using free software, we foster open innovation and enable each project to thrive beyond our community, ensuring that they are accessible and modifiable by all.

OCoding isn't just a week of prototyping, it's a celebration of community spirit and collective ingenuity. It's an opportunity to turn ideas into working prototypes, create lasting bonds between members, and contribute to a more open and collaborative technology ecosystem.

Join us and discover the magic of collaborative prototyping with OCoding. Together, let's turn your ideas into reality, one line of code at a time.
